Very complete course to learn to model with Autodesk Alias.
I’m very happy to be learning how to model with Autodesk Alias through this MS3D course, because it starts with teaching how to begin modeling from sketches. It’s great!

Great course for Intermediate to Advanced Modelers!
The course is very informative, I started this as a complete beginner. Wish it would be a little more in detail like previous courses but I understand that would make the course MUCH longer. Tutors are there to help out with the modeling process. Would recommend for intermediate to professional students wanting to get better at NURBS modeling.

I’m very satisfied with MS3D. The pace and the quality of the content are really good, and the tutors are always available if you have any questions. I tried to learn Alias on my own before, but it’s difficult to find good information online (besides from Autodesk). If you want to learn NURBS modeling, do yourself a favor and buy this course right now.

Audi RSQ8 SUB-D Modeling Course is a great Alias subdivision modeling tutorial that helps you learn how to work with subdivision tools and create an Audi as a full project. After this tutorial you will dominate Alias SUB-D Modeling definitely!

For me, this was a great introduction to SUBD modeling in Alias and I found it helpful in many different ways. The only drawback is the lack of explanation of some tools in later lessons. However, this forces you to analyze them yourself, so it motivates you to learn even more.

The best Autodesk Alias Sub-d course from 0 to the Legend! Now I can make all the surfaces I imagined of quickly and with high quality through the sub-d modeling.

The Audi RSQ8 sub-D modelling course has been so helpful. Being from South Africa it has been difficult to have access to any quality automotive design training, so MS3D courses are invaluable to me. The step by step approach from start to finish is great. One area I think can be approved is in the beginning of the tutorial to explain a little more about your thinking behind the subd layout. I was following blindly rather than understanding the theory behind it. By the end of the tutorial I understand why you made all your layout decisions but it would’ve been more beneficial to understand that upfront.
Fantastic course, thanks so much!

The first time I saw the Audi RS Q8 built via Sub-Division I felt stunned, because I didn’t think that achieving realistic results with subD was possible. This course has proved me wrong and taught me how to do it. Sincerely this is a game changer. And I know I still have to improve! All my gratitude to the MS3D team!

For several days I was looking for some content related to Alias to learn and I happened to find MS3D Academy through social media, the courses are easy to understand and very complete.

Mohammad [Mentor of courses] shows how you construct your RSQ8 in a few hours. It is a clear explanation on Sub-D construction. Step by step he takes you through the detailed design process. A basic understanding of Alias is necessary.

The couse explains the basic tools to get started with SUB in Alias and after that shows you how to create a car step by step. After going through the lessons I feel that I have the knowledge so I can create a complete car exterior by myself.

Overall the course is nice, it helps a lot to have someone guide you through the process and explain you the path you need to take and to show you what kind of quality do you need for auto industry ( one of the most demanding industries in terms of reflection quality 🙂
Still there are a few things that need to be mentioned :
1. The music.
It’s a bit much and repetitive to the point that it becomes tiering. I understand the background music as a white noise if you wish, but it is a bit too loud by default and not everybody enjoys the same music. So the solution could be a lower volume and maybe some variety ? like 2-5 songs for the entire course ? or no song at all ? maybe 🙂 Still the mentor/ owner has the last words.
2. Subtitles, the lack of.
For some people it is hard to have volume on or maybe they can’t wear headphones or they don’t have ones or they don’t want to. Still it would be nice to have subtitle when the mentor speaks 🙂 I know maybe it is a bit nitpicky, it is a suggestion.
3. Some video skips
At some point the video skips and the mentor who did the videos for “Audi RS Q8 2020” does not mention they did a part of the rear light, instead they just continue and the student it is supposed to guess how the mentor build that light and than continue as normal ? In some parts of the “Audi RS q8” videos it happened again and you would not notice if you are not very careful.
Also there are some inaccuracies at the rear wheel where the panels split, the bonnet cut line, the rear light shape. And the blueprints were misaligned copied/ recopied. And there was no explanation on why.
Or maybe the course it is designed that why so they try to force you to think how the mentor did it and train your observational skills. In that case I am sorry this point it is to be ignored :).
4. The tools
I feel like the other transform tools were not explored enough or at all. for example at the construction of the wheel the rotate tool could come in handy if you try to do a fifth or third of the wheel and than divide a 360 to 5 or 3 (or whatever the number depending on the case). The rotation tool it is used but I’m not sure if it’s the most efficient use. ( my opinion, I’m aware there is more than 1 way to do anything)
I don’t recall the flip tool / array tool / thikness being used in any of the videos ?( or it is not stated) pretty universal tools, not just for NURB but also SUBD. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe our models would benefit more from such tools, they would be more sharp more precise, so better quality ? I am aware that the mentor mentions that SUBD is a very manual process but still in some cases it is good to use more precise tools :).
5. The order of the videos
After finishing the “AUDI RS Q8” and getting the green from the mentor I went to the “more about subd” section and there were a lot of very useful information that would have helped me a lot in the construction of that Audi but they were closed off behind the Audi tutorial. I think that information would be better before the tutorial with the RS Q8. like the very first things after how to navigate and move things in software. 😀
6. Some tips and tricks maybe ? 🙂 ( nice to have)
It would be nice the have a sections with tips and tricks from the mentor, things that the mentor learned through the years and are not so self evident like how to arrange the faces to have a specific reflection or how to build a wheel much faster if you follow a few guide or things like that that are not so easy to spot outright, but only from experience 🙂
7. Yes
The owner seems to be open to discussion, a good mentality to have if you want to grow in general.
The sound is good.
The video quality is good.
The site is nice but it needs a few touches 🙂
You actually learn to do stuff. Useful. ( yes there are paid tutorial where you don’t learn almost nothing, I don’t understand how those are legal.
The price is not that high which is good, but the best part is that the owner is open to give discounts ( very good).
8. Yes Yes
I would recommend this course for learning Alias SUBD.
Overall 4.4 / 5 just a few more touches 🙂
This is a great Alias NURBS modeling tutorial that helps you learn Autodesk Alias surfacing. After this tutorial you will have a nice and clean Audi car model in Alias. Students will be supported until they get a job.

A very complete course for beginners, intermediate and even semi professional digital designers who want to know the a to z of nurbs modeling of a car body in alias.
The course is a best full tutorial video for anyone interested in car body design. I liked how it covered everything I needed. Only need a few weeks of training, well good things take time.
